Spring has Sprung….at least in our house!

March 29, 2010
I got a beautiful flower gift from Gary’s boss, and the tulips are about to open!  YAY!  At least we have Spring in the house…..hopefully soon it will arrive outside the house too!

I have been on the hunt for some drawer pulls for my dresser.  I decided tonight after seeing the ridiculous prices of painted knobs online to make my own!  Here they are!

Look at this!  Mom sent this plant to me the day Noah was born, and I just repotted it this weekend!  It’s almost 3 years old now!

BISH BASH!

March 29, 2010
Saturday we went to the Bish Bash at our church.  It was a fundraiser for the sweet little boy in our church, Sam Bish, that is 8 years old and is fighting cancer….fighting for his life.  He has had his leg amputated, has had chemo for many months, has had a lung surgery, and goes in for another lung surgery this Wed.  His family is incredible, and he is so brave.  This fundraiser was a HUGE success!  Our church raised $16,000 for the Bish family.  We had a wonderful time!  Lots of games, inflatables, food, and we got to meet Noah the Math Dog!  He is an amazing yellow lab that can literally do math!  His owner would ask him math questions (subtraction, addition, division, and multiplication) and the dog would bark the answer!  It was awesome!!  I told Gary our dogs need to do more with their lives!

Noah did great at the games!

Inflatables!  Noah loved the T-ball inflatable!

Sam Bish.  This fundraiser was all for this brave little boy!  Please keep Sam and his family in your prayers this Wed as he goes in for his second lung surgery.

After the Bish Bash we had Uncle John, Aunt Dawn, Alan and Emily over for dinner and game night!

RELAY FOR LIFE – We walk for Paul Christy!

March 29, 2010
Gary, Noah and I will be walking in the Relay for Life event on May 8th.  We walk to honor my dad, Paul Christy, who died way too early in his life due to Metastic Melanoma.  I miss my dad more than I can express in words, and feel it is my duty as his daughter to honor him in anyway I can.  This event will raise money for cancer research, and if you have been touched by cancer in any way, you know we need a cure for cancer NOW.  Won’t you please help us to raise money and honor my dad?  Any donation is greatly appreciated…..just think, if we all gave just $5 what a difference we could make!  Thanks for your help and support to find a cure for Cancer.

The Babies are Coming!

March 27, 2010
Hey mommies!  I heard about this new movie/documentary coming to theaters on Mother’s Day (of course!) and wanted to share it with you in case you might be interested in seeing it! What a wonderful way to learn about fellow mommies all over the world!  Here’s the info….

"Everybody loves… BABIES. Coming to theatres this Mother’s Day Weekend (May 7th), this visually stunning new movie simultaneously follows four babies around the world – from first breath to first steps. From Mongolia to Namibia to San Francisco to Tokyo, BABIES joyfully captures on film the earliest stages of the journey of humanity that are at once unique and universal to us all."

Ponijao (below), who lives in Namibia with her family, is one of four babies followed from birth to first steps in Thomas Balmès’ BABIES, a Focus Features release. Ponijao lives in Namibia with her family, including her parents and eight older brothers and sisters. Ponijao’s family is part of the Himba tribe, and lives in a small village with other families, following traditions including speaking their own (Himba) language. The men in the Himba tribe are generally off looking after the cattle and searching for grass, so Ponijao is most often with her mother and other female relatives; she plays, eats, and is bathed through the traditional method of mixing concrete red ochre with oil. Ponijao’s favorite things to do are dance and play with other children in the tribe.

Here are all the babies in the film….adorable!

Parents, movie fans are cooing over ‘Babies’ documentary.

If you were enraptured by just-hatched creatures of March of the Penguins, wait until you see Babies.

The collective cooing began last fall when the film’s trailer first appeared in theaters. Two African children play with rocks inside a hut when the younger one decides to reach for a nearby plastic bottle — only to have the older toddler suddenly push her and grab it away. One bites, the other shrieks, tears are shed and the laughter of shared recognition fills the air. Click for full article.

“Just a dusting…..”

March 27, 2010
So, our weather people here in Ohio called for just a dusting of snow overnight.  Well, we woke up to this.  Come on Spring……

Noah had fun today feeding the doggies their special "doggy ice cream".

Hey all you ice cream lovers….I found this in the store today….and the WHOLE container is only 2 points on Weight Watchers!  There are 3 flavors, brownie, caramel cone, and cookies and cream.

New Carpet Install

March 26, 2010
Oh my goodness, was this a crazy process!  I have to admit my excitement about getting the new carpet was almost outweighed by the amount of work it took to get the house cleared out for the new carpet!  It was like moving but everything had to fit in the kitchen, bathrooms, and garage!  As most of you know I don’t like messes or disorganization…..so this entire day was quite a lesson in patience for me!  But OH WAS IT WORTH IT!  The house looks incredible and we all are loving the new look.

The carpet installers were wonderful and FAST.  They got the entire house stipped of the old carpet and pad, and all new padding and carpet put down in 8 hours!  They took no breaks, no lunch, and hardly any potty breaks.  They were amazing.  My best buddy Bridgett was sweet enough to take my little guy for the day so he wouldn’t have to be around the old carpet coming out (YUCK) and would be able to have a fun time with his friends.  He had a great time making crafts, mixing muffins, and even took a little nap on her couch.  Thanks Bridgett!!!

HELLO NEW CARPET!

All our stuff squished everywhere!  The kitchen was FULL, I couldn’t even get in.

Padding, more padding and then carpet!  The house looked so wierd stripped down to just the wood floor boards.

Working on the downstairs……I was so excited!!!

DONE DONE DONE!!!! Thank you dad for this beautiful upgrade to our house.  I know you would love it.

Here’s a before and after of the living room.  What a difference!

Where it belongs……..

March 21, 2010
Dad’s mission picture arrived while we were out of town.  I got it today and was so thrilled to get it up on the wall right where it belongs!  Gary hung it for me while I was at the pony party with Noah and I came home to find it in the PERFECt spot!  I love it.  I get to look at it all the time and it makes me smile to know dad would love to see it here in our living room.

I also rearranged my mantle so that dad’s ashes could be front and center.  I got these "family" blocks on vacation and just love them!!

Pony Party for our friend Natalie!

March 21, 2010
We got back into town today and were blessed with a beautifully sunny day for driving.  We got home safe and sound and really enjoyed our trip!

Today I took Noah to our friend Natalie’s 4th birthday party.  It was a "pony party" at a barn near our house.  I thought that Noah would be really scared of the horses…..let me tell you why……while walking in the mountains with Noah we came across a guy on a horse and he stopped so we could pet the horse.  The horse was big and let out a very loud whinny and it scared Noah half to death!  Which brings me back to today’s pony party.  When we first got to the barn Noah didn’t want to leave my side or let go of my hand.  He had no interest in petting any of the horses, but he diid brush one of the sweet old horses.  When the time came for rides I was SHOCKED that he wanted to ride the horse!  He looked so adorable up on that big horse!!!

Noah and Jules (Natalie’s daddy), getting his horse brush, and all the kiddos brushing the sweet old horse!

Noah and Bridgett, and waiting for his turn to ride the horse…..he found lots of ways to get dirty!

Getting on his helmet and going for a ride!!  What a big boy.

Party time!  Noah was very excited about the cake!  Here’s the birthday girl!!

Of course he made a kitty friend.  He really loves cats.

Linville Falls

March 21, 2010
We finally got some sunshine so we all got out for a wonderful hike to see Linville Falls.  There has been a ton of snow melt in the mountains so the falls were spectacular!  Gary did an awesome (I don’t know how he doesit) job of carrying Noah on our hike….and Noah even did some hiking on his own!  He seems to really enjoy hiking and does a great job.

Noah got daddies boots on and got tattooed up for our hike!

On our way to our hiking spot….

Our hike to Linville Falls

The falls…..it was hard to capture the amazing sounds of the rushing water, it was intense!

After we saw the falls close up, we hiked to a higher spot to see the falls from above.  It was incredible….and scary!!

That night we went to a restaurant called "Canyons" and it had the most incredible view of the Smokies!  Look at this view!

Children’s Playhouse

March 18, 2010
Today was a mommy, daddy and Noah day.  Everyone else went to visit the Biltmore House (about 2 hours away).  We found a local place online that looked like a lot of fun, it is called "The Children’s Playhouse".  It was WONDERFUL!  It is an old house that has been transformed into a playhouse for kids.  Every room had something fun in it for Noah to explore.  There was a big craft room, lego’s, a musical room with a train table, a vet clinic with 2-levels, a kitchen room, and the best part….a "romp and stomp" room in the basement!  I think Noah’s favorite room was the romp and stomp….closly followed by the vet clinic..

1st stop was the craft room, lego’s, and playdough!

Next we moved onto the musical room with fish tank, book nook, and train table!

The vet clinic was a big hit!  Dr. Noah was in and took care of his patients for the day….turtle, penguin, doggie, cat, and frog.

Kitchen room.

Down to the romp and stomp room!!  Noah loved the ball "pool".

Where’s Noah???

We did one last craft before we left.  The finger paintings ended up looking like butterfly’s, and we gave them to Grandma.

Then we went for a yummy pizza lunch.  Noah was very excited about getting some pizza!
