Midnight Madness and MORE milk jugs!

October 30, 2009
Noah and I went today to gather more milk jugs for church (they are using them a luminaries at Christmas).  We found a lot today!!  Look at this!

Tonight our town had Midnight Madness.  We took Noah and had a great time.  I bought him a cheap firefighter vest so that he could be dressed up without having to wear the famous hot dog costume that he’s wearing tomorrow.  He doesn’t love wearing the "bun" for his hot dog costume so I thought we would save it just for tomorrow.  He seemed to like being a firefighter and kept saying "put out fire mommy" all afternoon.  We took a horse carriage ride and Noah scored lots of candy.

Leaves and Milk Jugs

October 28, 2009
Our church posted in the bulletin this week that they needed clean gallon milk jugs. So, Noah and I went out on trash day and gathered lots of milk jugs from everyone’s recycle bins!  Then we brought them home and cleaned the out (sort of a gross job).  Noah decided to scatter them around the driveway and hit them with his little mower!

Playing in the leaves in our front yard.

Trunk or Treat

October 27, 2009
We had so much fun at our church’s Trunk or Treat party this past Sunday.  Noah’s hot dog costume was a big hit (although some thought he was a pizza), and daddy and Noah had lot of fun playing lots of games, jumping in the bouncy house, and eating lots of good food.  Mommy was  a volunteer and helped with the food prepartion.  We cooked and wrapped in foil over 600 hot dogs and 300 sloppy joes!  We popped and bagged over 500 bags popcorn and cotton candy!  There was a trunk decorating contest and you know I had to go all out for that! I dressed up as a clown and decorated our trunk in a carnival theme!  It was really fun….we won second place!  It was a fun night!

All the wonderful volunteers working on the food preparation!  Look at the mountain of hot dogs!

Goodbye Troy

October 25, 2009
Our dear friend and neighbor, Troy, died this morning less than one week after being diagnosed with Liver cancer.  Troy, we already feel so lost without your cheerful face and kindness around the neighborhood.  I will miss waving to you each morning as you headed out for work. I will miss seeing you and Joey walking hand-in-hand around the neighborhood.  I will miss your kind words and gentle ways.  I will miss your sweet "hello’s" to Noah everyday on your way home from work.  I will miss leaning inside your truck as you were coming home from work and just chatting.  I will miss your cooking tips and your nagging that I need to eat more spinach.  I will miss running into you at Trader Joe’s and getting cooking tips as I saw you in each aisle. I will miss seeing you at each of Noah’s birthday parties.  I will miss seeing you and Joey waiting outside on your steps on Halloween waiting to give Noah candy.  I will miss talking with you in the middle of the cul-de-sac about how awesome our new roofs look. I will miss waving at you through the rain.  I will miss having a handyman next door to help me with blinds and big bushes I don’t know how to remove from my yard!  Troy, we will miss you, everything about you.

We love you and we love Joey and will always be here for her.

Rest in Peace friend.

Boo at the Zoo

October 25, 2009
Last night we took Noah and Grandpa to Boo at the Zoo.  It was a very chilly evening, dad was wishing for some Arizona warmth!  Noah enjoyed the Zoo.  It wasn’t too scary for him….except for the haunted train ride, which wasn’t scary just dark.  He loved all the inflatables, especially the BIG pumpkin!  I just got home from taking dad to the airport…..we had a wonderful visit!

Before we get to the Zoo pictures, here are some pics of Noah and Grandpa through the week…

Reading the morning newspaper

We went to the kid’s resale store and Grandpa found a jack hammer to buy for Noah!  Yep, it makes noise.

Grandpa and Noah playing in the sandbox and our beautiful fall tree in our front yard

I found this adorable "boys" sign at the resale store for $4!

Dad and Gary headed out to the Ohio State Football game Saturday

Boo at the Zoo!

Saying goodnight and goodbye to Grandpa before bed.  We love you Grandpa!

PRAYERS NEEDED

October 22, 2009
Our neighbors and friends Troy and Joey Evans need your prayers tonight. (The couple in the front).

Troy has been diagnosed with liver cancer this week and found out today that it’ terminal.  He is in a lot of pain and is has been in the hospital for a week now.  The cancer has spread to his liver and bones.  His wife Joey is distraught and devastated as you can imagine.  I was able to see her tonight and hug her, and I hardly recognized her.  She is not eating or sleeping and has only had a week to take all of this in.  She is staying at the hospital around the clock.  They need your prayers for healing, strength, peace, and a MIRACLE.  Joey needs prayers for strength as she faces this next week.

Thank you.

COSI with Grandpa

October 22, 2009
We visited COSI with Grandpa today.  Noah loves it here and had fun showing Grandpa all his favorite exhibits!

Feeding Grandpa some "pizza"

Dr. Noah Rice.  He was giving Grandpa a flu shot.  Is there anything scarrier than a toddler with a syringe?

Noah went on a safari and tackled lions, cheetahs, and giraffe’s!

Building with Grandpa…..and then the best part….knocking down!

I think dad has as much fun as Noah exploring!

Lunch with Grandpa.  YUM, peanut butter and jelly!  Then, Noah showed off his "full tummy" to us.

Future news anchor?

Reading time with Noah after his nap.

I know what’s scarrier than a toddler with a stringe……a toddler with a chainsaw!

Grandpa’s Arrival and Old Man’s Cave Adventure

October 21, 2009
Grandpa’s arrival!  Noah was so excited and the first thing he said to Grandpa was "play choo choo’s".

We took a Fall road trip on Grandpa’s first day here.  We drove about and hour to Old Man’s Cave State Park.  It was a great way to show dad the fall colors.  He really enjoyed the Old Man’s Cave, and the waterfall.  We had fun climbing all the stairs and walking through the rock staircases!

Noah was so patient and sat with his hands out waiting to catch some falling leaves!

Then Grandpa helped out and decided to shake the tree!

Climbing and more climbing!

Lunch with Grandpa and some ice cream to top it off…

Freeman Farm

October 21, 2009
Gary, Noah and I visited Freeman Farm this past weekend.  It’s a great place to get in some Fall festivities!  We took a hay ride, roasted hot dogs, ate some delicious kettle corn, visited the animals, and Noah enjoyed climbing all over the pumpkins.  Fun day!

Pumpkins!

Petting the animals.  There were small cows, a mini horse, and goats.  Noah was feeding the baby goats kettle corn!

Then and now!

Our sweet boy!

Hot dog roast and some teetering!

Lots of unique pumpkins!

Spooky Decor….and more

October 17, 2009
We decorated our front yard for Halloween and put on the finishing touches today. I think it turned out pretty good!   I added the red spray paint to the skeleton Friday…..scary,don’t you think?

We introduced Noah to silly string today (string that sprays out of a can).  Fun sticky stuff!

Doggy ice cream night!  Noah was brave and held the ice cream cups so the dogs could eat their treat!

Game day (this one’s for you Uncle John!).  Buckeye clothes…check, blanket….check, popcorn….check.   Buckeye’s playing a good game and winning……nope.  Darn Buckeyes.
